Abstract

Digital library projects are beginning to appear everywhere across the world. They are an incredibly potent force. This chapter illustrates the importance of recognizing that with respect to the information infrastructure, many of the details currently being explored in library research cannot happen unless they are embedded in a much larger infrastructure that enables them to be used by people remotely and that enables collaboration among people who will use them.
